How to live your best life in Berkeley according to West + Main agent Sue Perrault:
After living in the center of downtown for a decade (or two) we made the move to the peace and quiet of northwest Denver. While I miss the hustle and bustle of city life, I am in love with my new ‘hood. Waking up in my charming cottage, having coffee on the big front porch and waving to the neighbors strolling down the street is such a nice change of pace. Just being able to open the door for my little dog to go romp in the backyard is a huge bonus, especially on snowy winter mornings.
After living with a coffee shop across the street, and tons of restaurants out my front door, I really wanted a walkable area. Berkeley and Regis fit this to a tee. Just a block from our house is my favorite coffee shop, The Noshery. Most mornings there is a line waiting for great coffee, pastries and egg sammies. The service is always spot on, with a nice outdoor patio and cozy inside space. Sandwiches, soup and adult beverages are available in the afternoon.
When we have a bit more time we walk the mile or so down to Tennyson and brunch at the Cozy Cottage. This is by far the best patio in town, shady trees and great big breakfasts. My favorite is the carnitas with eggs...always enough to take home for an afternoon snack.
For lunch we head to the Royal for salad, or if we have the kids with us they love the Atomic Cowboy. Huge pizzas and I mean huge....as big as the table! The have a stack of games to play while you wait, great music is always on and plenty of tv’s for sports fans.
We are more happy hour people than big dinner fans, so Tennyson is great for appetizer hopping. El Chignon has to die for ceviche and Guac and chips, love the brussel sprouts and meatballs at Brazen, and pasta at Parisi.
While the food choices are abundant, there is so much more to this thriving community. Great boutiques like Ooh! Aah! Jewelry, Kats-eye, Real Baby and Stitch making shopping for unique gifts a breeze, while keeping it local. You can catch live music most nights at Local 46, or enjoy a beer and play bocce ball or ping pong on their amazing back patio. The Oriental is also a fun venue for touring and local bands. It is also one of the best places to watch the Broncos games on the big screen...free and they serve craft beers, doesn’t get much better than that!
This vibrant neighborhood also has 2 beautiful parks, Berkeley Lake and Rocky Mountain Lake are surrounded by lush grassy parks with playgrounds. dog parks and tennis courts. I love walking my dog and seeing the family picnics, birthday celebrations, soccer practices and pick up basketball games going on constantly. This area is a true gem in the Denver landscape.
