What is hygge

Pronounced "hoo-ga," this Danish concept encompasses a feeling of cozy contentment and well-being through enjoying the simple things in life. The word is said to have no direct translation in English, though “cozy” comes close. It derives from a sixteenth-century Norwegian term, hugga, meaning “to comfort” or “to console,” which is related to the English word “hug.” Associated with relaxation, indulgence, and gratitude, hygge has long been considered a part of the Danish national character.

In June, 24 condos priced $1 million and greater sold and closed, up 118 percent year over year. On average, the price of these condos was over $1.6 million, $550 per square foot, and sellers received 136 percent of their listing price, according to the Denver Metro Association of Realtors.

“The metro Denver Luxury Market was a sparkler in June as it continued on a firework-like trajectory,” said Jill Schafer, DMAR Market Trends Committee member and metro Denver REALTOR®. “We saw the biggest boom in the luxury condo market where there was a 50 percent increase in sales for properties priced over $1 million from May to June. That’s a nearly 70 percent increase year to date compared to the same time in 2016.”

Marijuana has been a deeply debated topic in Colorado since 2000 when Amendment 20 was passed, legalizing medical marijuana and then again in 2012 when recreational marijuana was legalized with Amendment 64. The state has come a long way in terms of pot growing and pot usage.

Now, as of last Friday, Denver has finalized its plan to begin the licensure of businesses who want to allow marijuana consumption.

"I really am excited to think about coffee shops and art venues, places where I can go with my friends to use cannabis responsibly," said Emmett Reistroffer.

Reistroffer is the campaign director for Initiative 300, which voters approved in 2016. He was part of the process for developing rules that no American city has ever developed before.

If you live in Denver, you know that the city is becoming more and more popular for people to move to. In a recent nationwide survey compiled by the real estate website homes.com, Denver is the most popular place to move in the United States, according to 1,000 respondents.

The respondents chose between six major U.S. cities — Denver, Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, Washington, D.C., and Miami — 40 percent of respondents (a full 18 percentage points over the runner-up, Miami) said that they'd most want to move to Denver.

The question was included in a general survey about moving trends, and it underscores other rankings we've reported on; in 2016, U.S. News and World Report listed Denver as its No. 1 place to live in the United States…

We are very into Pop Up Shops at the moment, with our first Pop Up Shop opening at the West + Main HQ this weekend, when we saw the following article on 303Magazine.com we just had to go check out Downtown Denver's first Pop Up Shop ourselves, and we were totally impressed:
