Elitch Gardens opened at its downtown Denver location on a cool May day in 1995, after seven years of planning and 11 months of construction.

Leaders at the time wanted to give the historic amusement park more room to expand than the center’s former home near West 38th Avenue and Tennyson Street in West Highland allowed. Two decades later, city officials are planning what to do with all the extra land around Elitch Gardens and Theme Park. For the first time on record, the average sold price of a single-family home in the Denver-area passed the half million-dollar mark settling at $502,986 in February.

“This may represent a psychological barrier for some homebuyers wishing to enter the market,” said Steve Danyliw, Chairman of the DMAR Market Trends Committee and Denver REALTOR®. “Some good news for buyers was the month-end inventory.”

Active listings for the residential market finished 5.56 percent higher than last month and 5.31 percent higher year over year.

According to Denverite, In October of 2017, Presbytery of Denver, a group of Presbyterian congregations around Colorado, sold a church property on 1700 South Grant Street to Revesco Properties for $3.15 million.

Around the time of the sale, executives from Revesco spoke with BusinessDen about their inclination to turn the building into condos.
